THE 24 ARCHETYPAL DISCIPLINES
KEY BOOKS AND RESOURSES

There are eight archetypal applied, external disciplines:

1. The Art and Science of Community
2. The Art and Science of Myth and Archetype
3. The Art and Science of Music (Gandarva Veda)
4. The Art and Science of Astrology (Jyotish)
5. The Art and Science of Ritual (Kalpa)
6. The Art and Science of Geomancy (Sthapatya Veda)
7. The Art and Science of Health and Longevity (Ayurveda)
8. The Art and Science of Iconoclastic Living.

NOTE: Some of the Vedic names for these disciplines are mentioned in parentheses, but these disciplines are universal and can be found in every major religious, political and cultural tradition. The Art of Multi-Dimensional Living® is not exclusively Vedic; in fact, I have repeatedly suggested that many of the Vedic disciplines are so distorted and eroded as to be dangerous when applied today. This holds particularly true for the applied disciplines.

The study of these 24 disciplines is difficult in today's educational climate that emphasizes job skills above all else. What follows are books and other resources that will allow you to access these disciplines in ways that are fun, easy and fruitful. Find the discipline you want to study from our index of the essential 24 and then click on it to see my recommendations for your self-study of that discipline. This is holistic education at its best. Unfortunately, many of the best books on each subject are rare or out of print books, or published by companies in foreign lands, so you may have to do considerable searching to find some of them.
